Butterfly Effect

From Pritchard's blog: Well this Butterfly Effect was amazing. I am so impressed with the organization and all that goes into this event. Everyone that I talked to raved about how much fun everyone had. If you missed it this year make sure you look for it next year. This year the skies parted and the weather was just perfect. I was happy to be part of the fun and got to get out my camera and take some fun photos!!

Thommen Technology

T1 is introducing a new technology in the board building industry. The “BambO2/CarbonX”.

His new Version 4,0 T1 incorporates Bamboo veneers in all T1 boards. This new technology not only results in longer lasting boards but also Greener.

T1’s ‘CarboX’ construction uses strategically oriented carbon layers, mirrored inside and outside the PVC sandwich skin, paired with T-stringers in deck and bottom to tune and control torsion and flex in its boards depending on their range of use. RevoXskin is a UV-resistant and 100 % waterproof finishing film eliminating the use of any fillers and primers.

By integrating full BambO_ decks and bottoms in its ‘Version 4.0’ range, T1 is able to further boost the resilience of its windsurf boards and enhance stiffness and toughness at the same time: Customers will be rewarded with longer lasting products that will keep their crisp and snappy “new board feeling” for many years. The bamboo fiber excels with an immense tensile strength rivaling many metal alloys but also features a strength-to-weight ratio better than graphite (carbon). This makes the bamboo fiber one of the most resilient natural materials
known to man.”

The contributions to a “Greener” environment thanks to the use of the Bamboo construction are many: Bamboo grows faster than any tree, and can be cut and is capable of regenerating without the need to replant. Also, bamboo is an extremely efficient “air cleaner”, as no other wood material takes up as much Carbon Dioxide.

All the new Version 4,0 boards feature a Full BamboO2 deck and bottom and upgraded “CarboX” construction: CarboX50 for all T1 MauiWaveX, CarboX75 for all T1 CrossX crossover boards, CarboX100 for all T1 FastX free-slalom boards, and CaboX full carbon for T1 SR speed and RS slalom and race boards.

I am Jason Polakow

You thought it was a serious event? Yes it was, regarding the tough conditions the riders have met on day 6 and day 7 in Puertito.
But behind the scene, between the heats, during the days without wind, and at night, this competition was anything but serious!
All the guys were pretty relaxed, no stress and some of them were really funny. So we have had a lot of fun watching again all the rushes we've done, and we've decided to show the "behind the scene" of this 1st event of a kind...

RRDs non stop research and development keeps on going across the whole RRD range and the 2009 RRD Boom range keeps evolving as well with 2 x top boom lines: Wave Vogue Carbon Monocoque and SuperStyle ALU Monocoque. Both lines approach the 2009 season featuring not just new graphic designs, but also highly developed details like new front end for Wave Vogue booms and new curve design for Super Style Alum booms.

In the night of 30 March, sailing history was made when Macquarie Innovation powered down the 500 meter course at Sandy Point, Australia at an average speed of 50.43 knots.

Macquarie Innovation reached a maximum speed of 54.23 knots (100km/hr) in winds of only 24 knots and became the first sailing boat in the world to complete an official 500 meter run in excess of 50 knots.

Macquarie Speed Sailing Team is now preparing the record claim for ratification by the sport's governing body - the World Sailing Speed Record Council.

The final ratified speed is expected to be lowered to 50.08 knots due to tidal variances experienced along the course.
